I want to listen to your opinions about digital remaking Old 18M Bermann and Saint to Classic line(70cm) and Fashion line(44cm) dolls

I want to listen to your opinions about digital remaking old 18M Bermann and Saint that was made 15 years ago to Classic line(70cm) and Fashion line(44cm) dolls. I’m planning to remake the prototype of these dolls with better Ball-joint. We will try not to harm their original image.

We haven’t decided yet but I just want to ask you whether you would buy them or not if they got remake.

Here is the processing of remaking Old 18M Bermann and Saint.

1. 3D Scanning of Old 18M Bermann and Saint.
1. Remodeling 3D data. Decide which parts of body are divided.
2. Printing out them with 3D printer and adjust them.
3. Adjust mobility manually.
4. Dolls are done.

There are several steps to process digital remaking. The original prototype has been broken and it takes for a lot of time and cost. If there are less than 100 people who order the dolls we can’t make it. It will take about 3 months to remake the prototype. After that it will take 5months from casting to shipping. The someone who decide to get this doll we will give you 30% discount.

Please choose one and let me know
1. I will place an order if DollShe remakes them.
2. I won’t place any order even if DollShe remakes them
3. Any your opinion.

ex) I won’t place any order even if DollShe remakes them. I don’t understand why DollShe remake the limited edition doll again.

DollShe will pick one person among the people who send us their opinions and give one doll for free. Also the person can choose any one doll want to get.

I respect your negative opinions about remaking Limited Edition doll. However, I want you to understand that I don’t use the same original prototype. There would be differences in head size or proportion of body.

We will give 30% off to someone who decide to pre-order, after we decide to remake them.

Please give me your various opinions.
Thank you in advance.

  • A DO Bermann has been one of my dream dolls since I joined the hobby in 2005. I entered the lotteries multiple times, but always lost.

If DO Bermann were made with either (1) an updated version of the original Bermann body, or (2) were made to fit the new 18M 69cm body, I would buy one — and if SA Bermann were released, I’d buy one of each.

I do not feel that the Bermann head is suited for a very muscular body, so the 28M body would be less desirable.

I hope that you would not make the head *smaller* — I like larger heads, and if I bought a Bermann, I would want him to look good with my original Dollshe boys.

But, yes — I would buy a DO Bermann and an SA Bermann in a heartbeat! Thank you!

    • Dear ASHBET,

Thank you for your opinion. I won’t recreate the same body like the Original one.
The body was made 15 years ago and it’s not enough to use it again.
There would be many changes in the body. You will see the differences in our future notices.

Bermann doesn’t go well with muscular body. I will make a new slim body that suits with Bermann so don’t worry about it.
I would make OE and SA head of Bermann.
      Have a wonderful day.

      Sincerely yours,

      • That would be an absolute dream come true!

If you’re able to do this, I will buy both of the renewed dolls — Bermann is one of my all-time favorite doll sculpts, and I have always regretted missing out on getting one.

Thank you so much for listening to your fans, and for being willing to give us such a wonderful gift! <3

  • Dear Mr. Dollshe.
Thank you for asking us, your fans, about this very well-beloved sculpt.

I personally would LOVE to see Bermann return in his 18M classic size, and feel the Pure body would also be even better, as its sculpt is so well defined, while remaining tall, willowy, and gentle.

A Bermann doll is one I would definitely consider buying from you in the 1/3 size (maybe a 65cm “dancer” body can be designed?). I would save up for it or do a layaway program. But, yes! I would DEFINITELY want to buy a lovely Bermann.

Thank you, again, for your consideration to your fans.

    All the best!
    ~Julia

    • Dear Julia,
I won’t recreate the same body like the Original one.
The body was made 15 years ago and it’s not enough to use it again.
There would be many changes in the body. You will see the differences in our future notices.

I will make a new slim body that suits with Bermann and I don’t think I would make dancer body.

It will be too busy to make prototype of a doll I have to do until next January.

I want to make a latin dancer or a samba dancer.
      They have beautiful balance.
      Have a wonderful day.

      Sincerely yours,

  • I would love a fashion size Saint. I hope if this does happen that you offer the fashion size head separately too. I have both the old and new Saint heads and I really like the older version. Understanding that the new ones would be slightly different is actually great news.

    SteamWitch

    • Dear SteamWitch,

Thank you for your opinion. I won’t recreate the same body like the Original one.
The body was made 15 years ago and it’s not enough to use it again.
There would be many changes in the body. You will see the differences in our future notices.

I will keep the head image as much as I can but there would be big differences in way of moulding and joint between Old version and New version.

So the value of Original Bermann will be kept.

I will provide Fashion size head too.
      Thank you for your opinion.

      Sincerely yours,

  • Thank you for even considering remaking these dolls, Mr. DollShe.

I would love to have a Bermann. I was going through a family crisis when he was first released, and then just couldn’t come up with the funds for the short period of time that he was offered in limited editions. I would like to see him on the Pure body, as identified above, although a lower torso joint, such as the one with which he was originally issued, would also be fine.

If layaway was an option, I would definitely want to order a Bermann from you if you chose to remake him. His face is gentle and, indeed, along with Saint and Bernard, were the original faces with which I always associated Dollshe Craft dolls and your artistry.

Again, thank you very much for reaching out to your many fans and asking our opinion. While I understand the possible concern of individuals who purchased those first Bermanns, those dolls were offered in limited full sets. If any resurrection of the dolls are not offered in full sett, you are not copying the originals!

    • Dear JULIE,
I won’t recreate the same body like the Original one.
The body was made 15 years ago and it’s not enough to use it again.
There would be many changes in the body. You will see the differences in our future notices.

I will keep the head image as much as I can but there would be big differences in the way of molding and the joint between the Old version and New version.

The point is that I won’t use the old body and the Old and New would be compatible with each other. So the value of the Original Bermann will be kept.

I don’t want to get grudge from owners of original one due to new one.
But, I would take criticism as much as I can. I wanted to get motive from old sculpture.

      Thank you for your opinion.

      Sincerely yours,
      DollShe-Ki-yong

  • Hello Dollshe team,

I am a big fan of ur creations and i have big respect for ur continous improvment, for ur bold and very interesting projects.
At this moment i am very attracted of ur fashion lines dolls like Vampire Khan and Monica Belucci.Definetely these dolls will be smthing different!Already i am planning to preorder one of those.
Abt Bermann,i know the old one version and i have found that is very valuable and hard to find piece for every serious doll bjd collectors. This is impressive!
Thinking at a remake of him with the promise that he will be greater in body line and joints system,i will say that is a stunning idea!Especially if u will make a Fashion size Bermann.
Anyway i see ur dolls with a very bright future!
    Paying my respect,
    Virginia

    • Dear Virginia,
It was hard to recreate celebrity like Monica Belucci or recreate Vampire Khan. There was high chance to get disputed. But I believe my institution. People need to time to take something new at the fist time but they would get enthusiasm with the new one. Of course there is exception. I just hope Vampire Khan and Monica Belucci are not included in the β€˜exception’.

I won’t recreate the same body like the Original one.
The body was made 15 years ago and it’s not enough to use it again.
There would be many changes in the body. You will see the differences in our future notices.

The point is that I won’t use the old body and the Old and New would be compatible with each other. So the value of the Original Bermann will be kept.

I will make Fashion line Bermann too.
      Thank you for your opinion.

      • Dear Mr.Kiyong,

Thank u for kind answer and i regret that u dont open a discussion thread abt Monica Belucci and Vampire Khan dolls, fashion size especially.People will start to like in bjd dolls and iconic figures like them and not only same childish faces repeated endless.
I was really amazed and happy by ur choice bz here we have same tastes here in voluptuos feminity and manly sex-appealing.
Vampire Khan has the exact tones and details to make him a seductive misterious, somehow non human character and i congratulate u bz u avoid to give him any cartoonish feature!
And more, i cant wait to find any clue abt Monica Belucci and im not speaking here abt her face bz i have full thrust in ur skill to give her realism and beauty.Actually i linger to ask u ,if possible, to give a sneak peak abt the new 26F fashion body for Monica.
Well, waiting with excitment any news from u( and waiting with same excitment my Amanda fashion made in colaboration with Nigel Chia)….
        my best regards,
        Virginia

  • Bermann has been my dream doll for a long time so I would definitely buy one! Echoing the other commenters though, that I’d like to see him on a slender body like he was originally rather than on a muscular one. Thank you for asking us!

    • Dear ASHLEY,

I won’t recreate the same body like the Original one.
The body was made 15 years ago and it’s not enough to use it again.

Bermann doesn’t go well with muscular body. I will make a new slim body that suits with Bermann.

      Thank you for your opinion.

  • Dear Mr. Dollshe,
I would be so happy if you decide to remake this magnificent dolls!
I’ll probably buy Saint because he has the most beautiful sculpt ever. Please save his original image.
Pure body is so slim and graceful and appealing. But time doesn’t stand still and I absolutely sure you’ll make new dolls even better!

    Regards,
    Anna.

    • Dear Anna,
I won’t recreate the same body like the Original one.
The body was made 15 years ago and it’s not enough to use it again.

Saint doesn’t go well with muscular body. I will make a new slim body that suits with Saint.
I will keep the Saint image as much as I can, also more beautiful with perfection.
      Thank you for your opinion.

  • I adore Bermann. I would absolutely order Bermann if he were remade, particularly if the new body retained some of the nice slender lines of the original Bermann.

    • Dear GREENJUDY,

Thank you for your opinion. I won’t recreate the same body like the Original one.
The body was made 15 years ago and it’s not enough to use it again. I will make a new slim body that suits with Bermann.

I will keep the head image as much as I can but there would be improvement in most parts. I’ll make him more beautiful.

  • Dear Mr. Dollshe,

    It’s an exciting news!
Since I joined a hobby I always wanted to have a Bermann,
but never imagined that there will be an opportunity to buy it.

So I’ll definitely buy (preorder) a Bermann!

    Thanks for considering it,
Looking forward to hearing a good news from you ^_^

    • Dear NAMELESSONE,

I will keep the head image of Bermann as much as I can and there would be improvement in most parts. Also, I’ll make him more beautiful.
      Thank you for your opinion.

  • Dear Mr. Dollshe,
I am very fond of your idea about digital remaking Old 18M Bermann and Saint to Classic line(70cm) and Fashion line(44cm) dolls’. My answer to your question is “1. I will place an order if DollShe remakes them.” I would be really happy to order such a version of Bermann in Classic Line (70 cm), since Bermann was always a Graal doll for me, a real dream of mine, but I joined the BJD hobby too late to buy Bermann easily, and it was already very difficult to find somebody wishing to sell his or her Bermann, and even if found on sell, Bermann would cost too much for me. So, I definetely approve this wonderful idea of yours!
Hope, my opinion will be useful for you.
    Sincerely,
    Magda

    • Dear Magda,
I will keep the head image of Bermann as much as I can and there would be improvement in most parts. Also, I’ll make him more beautiful.

I can make a decision whether I make New version of Bermann and Saint.
I know many people are eager to have them. Especially, it’s hard to get Bermann.

I thinkinkg about whether I make New version of Bermann to limited edition or to ordinary dolls.

      Thank you for your opinion.

      Sincerely yours,
      DollShe-Ki-yong
      DollShe Craft CEO/Master Sculptor

    • Dear Tatiana,

I’m thinking about to make Fashion size of Saint too.

  • Hello Mr. Dollshe,

Thank you so much for even considering to re-make the original 18m Bermann and Saint. I love both of the originals and would love one of each. I will definitely place and order for a 18m Bermann if Dollshe re-makes him. Bermann is such a lovely sculpt and my all time favorite. I would be honored to have the chance to own one.

    Sincerely,
    Melissa

    • Dear Melissa,
Thank you for your opinion. I won’t recreate the same body like the Original one.
The body was made 15 years ago and it’s not enough to use it again. I will make a new slim body that suits with Bermann and Saint.

I will keep the head image of Bermann and Saint as much as I can and there would be improvement in most parts. Also, I’ll make them more beautiful.

      Thank you for your opinion.

  • Bermann was on my wish list for a very long time. I definately will place an order for both DO Bermann and Bermann. Plus, layaway and head only are both preferred. I’d love to see a new body as well, but please try your best to keep the outside looks the same, and improve the inside joints as much as you like.

    Kari

    • Dear Kari,

Thank you for your opinion. I won’t recreate the same body like the Original one.
The body was made 15 years ago and it’s not enough to use it again. I will make a new slim body that suits with Bermann and Saint.

I will keep the head image of Bermann as much as I can and there would be improvement in most parts. Also, I’ll make him more beautiful.

I’ll make OE and SA Bermann Head. But we won’t provide head only option.

      Thank you for your opinion.

      Sincerely yours,
      DollShe-Ki-yong
      DollShe Craft CEO/Master Sculptor

  • fashion saint would be awesome – actually, fashion bernard, or bermann, or hound, etc. too – especially if the new versions go with your current aesthetics so all of them would go together. separately available heads too would be great!!

    • Dear ALEX,

Thank you for your interest in Saint, Bernard, Bermann, Hound all.

I will keep the image of Bermann and Saint as much as I can and there would be improvement in most parts. Also, I’ll make him more beautiful. I’ll make the body slim not muscular body.
I don’t think we will provide β€˜head only’ option

      Thank you for your opinion.

  • Oh Mr. Dollshe!!!
That is a fabulous idea! I’ve admired your work for a long time and each time you create something new, I am amazed at how innovative your creations are, and I can definitely see the amount of effort, detail and passion that goes into each of your dolls. Even though I’ve admired the BJD world for a long while, I’ve always looked at it from a far distance and never actually owned any BJDs of my own. But recently, I saw your Vampire Khan and he took my breath away immediately. I bought him in a heartbeat because he is so different and unique from any other BJDs I’ve seen before, and he has this ethereal beauty to him that befits him of his supernatural nature. He is sooooo gorgeous and I can’t wait to see him in person!!! Anyways… back to the remaking of Bermann and Saint…I would love to see how you recreate these old dolls. I agree with the others in that these new versions of Bermann and Saint should be thin rather than muscular, but that does NOT mean you should confine yourself to the old images of these dolls. I think one of the many strengths of Dollshe is that Dollshe always strives for something new, and tries to surpass their previous works. I think that is a remarkable thing, and while I love the youthful and almost androgynous looks of Bermann and Saint, I think they should be distinct from and not the same as their old versions. If they are too similar, then it won’t be a RE-CREATION, it will just be a copy. I think it would be awesome if they become more REALISTIC like Dollshe’s more modern dolls while still carrying their young, pretty boy images of the old sculpts. So… in short, I think it’s a marvelous idea, and I’d definitely be interested in buying them. Good luck, and keep up the hard work!

    • Dear MJKKJM,
I love making new things. If I have made same thing so far I would’ve gotten sick and tired of making dolls long time ago already.

Thank you for ordering Vampire Khan. He will be shipped as the schedule.
I can’t make delay anymore for my customers who keep following us.
The prototype is done and we got schedule from DollShe Craft Casting company.
I will send him as soon as possible so you can see him earlier.

I won’t recreate the same body like the Original one.
The body was made 15 years ago and it’s not enough to use it again. There would be many changes in the body. You will see the differences in our future notices.

I will keep the image of Bermann and Saint as much as I can and there would be improvement in most parts. As you said I will keep young, pretty boy images of the old sculpts. I know that is very important point.
There would be big differences in the way of molding and the joint between the Old version and New version.

The point is that I won’t use the old body and the Old and New would be compatible with each other. So the value of the Original Bermann will be kept.

It’s a given but I will show you something surface the original one. I hope many people would likes my recreative Bermann and Saint.

      Thank you for your opinion.

      Sincerely yours,

  • Dear Mr. Dollshe,
I always loved and respected your work. B

ut being a serious doll collector myself I’m very disappointed to hear that you want to remake Bermann ( though you said many times that you will never do it). Bermann is a legendary doll for many people. Yes, it is extremely expensive and hard to get now but that is a part of it’s story. And of course many people want to have it. This is what Bermann is. If you simply remake it ( even slightly changed) that would be totally disrespectful to collectors like me and some of my friends. You will destroy the legend of bjd hobby and you will break your promise.

I think you should only remake Bermann in fashion size. That would be fair to those people who actually won Bermann, or who managed to get him later. And you trusted your promise to NEVER sell him again. Having Bermann is like having a treasure. Please don’t take it away from us!

    • Dear C.C.,
I won’t recreate the same body like the Original one.
The body was made 15 years ago and it’s not enough to use it again.
There would be many changes in the body. You will see the differences in our future notices.

I will keep their image as much as I can but there would be big differences in the way of molding and the joint between the Old version and New version.

The point is that I won’t use the old body and the Old and New would be compatible with each other. So the value of the Original Bermann will be kept.

The new one is called Bermann too but I’ll add another name too. There would be improvement in most parts. so it will have totally different body with old one.
If they are called as same name people would get confused.

      Thank you for your opinion.

      Sincerely yours,
      DollShe-Ki-yong
      DollShe Craft CEO/Master Sculptor

      • Dear Mr. Dollshe

it is so strange for me to read all your replies about the body.
No one cares that much about the body it is the Bermann’s HEAD that is important!
So unless the head is totally different this re release will mean that you broke your last promise.
Many bjd fans in my home country have already lost their trust in Dollshecraft after endless “very last” sales and crazy waiting time. Every time they hear your new promise they just laugh and some of my friends who placed their orders almost a year ago are still waiting for their dolls.
Dollshe company was always special to me. Your dolls with faceups by SDink brought me to this hobby so I was always trying to understand you. But after what is happening now I just can’t do it any longer.((
I’m sorry but if you do not have respect for your clients you can’t expect them to respect you. This new Bermann is a real betrayal of trust that your old fans had for your company.
It feels that when someone says “old Dollshe” nowadays they do not mean your old dolls but “old master” who created beautiful dolls, was firm about his word and had respect for his clients. And the master we have now sadly is totally different.
I won’t place any orders with Dollshe company again but I don’t think that will be a problem for you.
As I can see there are many people who want to buy Bermann and I understand now what my friends were talking about when they told me that you only care about money.
        Money always wins.((

  • Dear Mr. Dollshe,
I have always thought Saint was just beautiful, and would most definitely purchase him in the Fashion size! I purchased your fashion David and just adore him. Your sculpting is so exquisite that I have yet to put clothes on him! I do think Saint would need a less muscular body than David, but I would buy Saint with any body you offered. Thank you for asking our opinion!

    • Dear SPROCKET,

The body was made 15 years ago and it’s not enough to use it again.
There would be many changes in the body. You will see the differences in our future notices.

I will keep the original image as much as I can but there would be big differences in the way of molding and the joint between the Old version and New version.
I won’t recreate the same body like the Original one.

I will make Fashion line Saint too.

      Thank you for your opinion.

  • Hi Mr. Dollshe, thanks for thinking of your customers and asking for our input.

I choose: 2. I won’t place any order even if DollShe remakes them.

I’m not sure if I understand what you’re planning to do with Saint, if you’re remaking the old version of Saint, or if you’re just thinking of releasing the current version of Saint in Fashion Size. I don’t have an opinion about releasing current Saint in Fashion Size, but I don’t think re-releasing old Bermann and old Saint is a good idea, because of the following reasons:

    – Old Bermann and Old Saint belong to a past aesthetic. You’ll find people to buy them, as you would for anything, but I’m not sure how popular they’d be in the global current BJD market. As BJD “technology” developed, the trend has been towards more realism, and while remaking the bodies would follow this trend, the faces of these two dolls are from the previous era, and other than a niche market, I don’t know who’d buy them other than those doing so solely for the purpose of nostalgia, especially when newer dolls that conform to and evolve the trend come out.

    – Related to my first point, I believe that you should focus on going forward, not looking back. While remaking the bodies sorta count as moving forward, I’d much rather see what new things you innovate rather than revamping old things. I understand that your process is such that you can do a lot of work and a lot of different work when you feel inspiration for it, but when you have so much things on your table it’s also very possible to get ovrwhelmed and being stressed/worried is not good for your health. πŸ™ You’ve already got so much on your plate that unless this is a project YOU personally are passionate about, I think that you should consider passing on it.

    – If you or any of your workers have access to the Den of Angels website, there’s some really good discussion and insight in the Dollshe thread there. As someone just pointed out, “I have counted VERY QUICKLY that there are 60-70 Dollshe threads on the marketplace (large dolls only) in which owners are selling either 18M heads, or 18M bodies, or 18M full dolls… So why would he remake the same dolls? My guess is he won’t stick to the sculpts/body sculpts very closely.” There are also other separate and really legitimate concerns about this undertaking, and the one I agree completely about is the next point:

    – You promised that you would not make Bermanns anymore. I recognize things change and that sometimes doll makers break their promise. However, those kinds of doll makers lose a lot of respect, and, I don’t mean to be harsh or mean, but since the long waiting schedules from Dollshe have already asked for a great deal of patience from its customers, breaking a promise is probably not a good thing to do. As another Dollshe lover said in very eloquent words, “Firstly, it is the one promise that Dollshe have made that has not been broken. There has been a staunch promise that there will be no more Bermanns and there haven’t been. It shows integrity to keep it that way. (…) I would think, based on current tastes, that the number of people who would buy a re-released, re-jigged Bermann, without the cachet of the original, severely limited sculpt, could be counted on the fingers of one hand. Not worth it for the bad feeling this would inevitably engender.” You might hear from this person too, I’m just quoting him, but I agree with all the views he’s expressed and hope that you’ll take them into consideration. πŸ™‚

Thanks as always for your hard work.

    • Dear SARAH,

I’m always in dilemma between making a doll and business.
When I make Bermann at the first time I did everything by myself in my craft room. I did producing prototype, casting, wrapping, shipping all on my own.
Now, it got bigger than before and I’m making a lot of dolls to keep this scale with my workers. But I still produce prototype by my myself. It affects my health a lot and it makes me hard to go forward.
I think I should let someone know my skill and make DollShe being managed by someone without me someday.

It would be wrong if I just re-release the orginal limited edition doll without any modification and upgrade.

The reason why I want to listen to you was that I wanted to let you know my opinion and communicate with you and listen to various thoughts.

I won’t recreate the same body like the Original one.
The body was made 15 years ago and it’s not enough to use it again.
There would be many changes in the body. You will see the differences in our future notices.

I will keep the original image of Saint as much as I can but there would be big differences in the way of molding and the joint between the Old version and New version.

The point is that I won’t use the old body and the Old and New would be compatible with each other. So the value of the Original Bermann will be kept.

      Thank you for your opinion.

      Sincerely yours,

  • If you work on a Dollshe Bermann, or your 18M Classic, I would love to buy a fashion version!

Your 18M classic is just that, a classic and it is sorely missed. I’m sure it will be very well accepted, but please do not stress yourself out with too many projects. You don’t have to work on them with such tight timelines as long as you do not take orders until they are ready.

    • Dear PPX,
Thank you for ordering Fashion line dolls. I know 18M Classic is artwork that many people miss. Many people like my old sculpt. I will make it as before and keep make new things. Please keep paying attention and supporting us.

We are currently very busy but I’m doing it one by one so it’s fine.
      I’m doing work efficiently.

      Thank you for your concern.

  • Dear mr. Dollshe.
You know, in the great part my coming into this hobby and staying there was because of Bermann. You’ve created the dream, the legend, the mystical and stunning doll. And for many of us it was nearly unreadable BJD Graal and the logical point in the road of making collection. Besides you’ve always promised that this sculpt will be limited and unrepeatable.
I just don’t understand what can be the reason for this new strange idea. You’ve done this remaking stuff with all the other sculpts, and that’s your absolute right as their creator. But in the case of Do Bermann you will stand down from the art to actually craft. And for me it’s sad: there are not so many fairytales left.
And it was always nice to know that the man whose talent I greatly appreciated was the man of his word.
Best wishes and good health to you and your family
    Elena

    • Dear Elena,
I won’t recreate the same body like the Original one.
The body was made 15 years ago and it’s not enough to use it again.
There would be many changes in the body. You will see the differences in our future notices.

I will keep the original image of Bermann and Saint as much as I can and there would be improvement in most parts of sculpt.

The point is that I won’t use the old body and the Old and New would be compatible with each other. So the value of the Original Bermann will be kept.

DollShe Craft is not the place I have done all processing of making prototype, casting, shipping by myself since 2003. There are my coworkers who I worked for a long time together. Whenever I have to make decision, I try to decide what to do deeply. Not only about making a doll, but also when I have to make a division for business.

I don’t want to lose my old fan. However, to my lovely wife, two daughters, parents, all my DollShe Craft family, and myself there is something no choice but to do that continuously.

It would be hard for you to understand me sometimes, I hope you understand me it was the best choice for my people and my health at the moment.

      I understand your thought.

      Thank you for your opinion.

  • I love Saint! It is one of my dream dolls! I would definitely try to purchase it in fashion size! He has a beautiful face!! And do many custom possibilities! It would be great if we had layaway payment option. I love your work! Your dolls are amazing! Thank you so much

    • Dear JORDANA,

I will keep the original image of Saint as much as I can and there would be big differences in the way of molding and the joint between the Old version and New version.

I will make Fashion line of Saint too.
Also I will provide layaway for you.

      Thank you for your opinion.

  • Hi Mr. Dollshe,

First I’d like to say I think it’s fantastic that you would consider remaking Bermann and Saint. Each time Bermann was available, I was unable to purchase him. The secondary market for him was (and is) brutal. I would be more than happy to purchase a new and updated Bermann, especially if he was available on the 35 body. But even if he’s not, I would still purchase him.

I would hope you could keep his facial features similar to the originals, with maybe a few tweaks here and there as needed.

    Thanks Mr. Dollshe!

    • Dear KESAMI123,

I won’t recreate the same body like the Original one.

I will keep the original image of Bermann as much as I can but there would be big differences in the way of molding and the joint between the Old version and New version.

I don’t produce 35S Body anymore. The new Bermann will be compatible with totally new 18M Body. It will be slim body that goes well with him.

      Thank you for your opinion.

      Sincerely yours,
      DollShe-Ki-yong

  • Saint has been one of my dream dolls for years, and I’ve never gotten the chance to buy him.
So if you were to remake him, I would much probably buy one.
I too would love it if you kept the classical 18M slender silhouette, as it fits his face way more than a more muscular body.
Thank you for even considering remaking him

    • Dear ATARAXXIA,
I won’t recreate the same body like the Original one.

  • I just wanted to add, Mr. Dollshe, that your current thinking of re-creating Bermann 18M dolls is very smart.
I believe that your old promise not to make anymore Bermanns in the Tensiya/Anu days was made without full knowledge of the popularity of the doll, of the heartbreak that it would cause to have it so limited that only a handful of people got to own it. It was also probably not the best decision for your business.

And anyway, with this kind of hobby and the aesthetics that us doll collectors like (anime styles, fantasy, shojo, manga), what’s wrong with nostalgia? Nothing wrong with nostalgia for something beautiful! Technology is great and find and has its practical uses, but dolls are something that touches our FEELINGS.

I’m sorry, but we are not all fans of big beefy, hulking, big-muscled men dolls, like so many doll-makers have been creating these days.

So, yes, if you re-create Bermann/Do Bermann in 18M size, I would LOVE to order one, because it would finally be my chance!

Please make this happen, and please let us know more about this Bermann 18M pre-order.

    Thank you so much!
    ~Julia

    • Dear Julia,

      I do understand your opinion.
However, I’m think about to make remake dolls.

It would be wrong if I just re-release the orginal limited edition doll without any modification and upgrade.

The reason why I want to listen to you was that I wanted to let you know my opinion and communicate with you and listen to various thoughts.

  • I think you should scale to fit the ARSENE body and maximise your work. As all the face structure of the sculpts are so youthful. Also you could made ARSENE Body a pose + and achieve verity and compatibility…. as always love all your work

    • Dear ERIC S THOMAS,
I won’t use Arsene body for Bermann body. I will design a new body that goes well with Bermann.

      Thank you for your opinion.

      Sincerely yours,
      DollShe-Ki-yong
      DollShe Craft CEO/Master Sculptor

  • I respectfully disagree that RE-making an adapted Bermann for the NEW 18M Arsene body would constitute breaking a promise.

The original dolls will maintain their rarity, value, and cachet (you’ll note that none of the dolls currently for sale on DoA are Bermanns!), and the new doll would be a gift to the MANY people who tried repeatedly to get a Bermann and were unable to, either because they did not win the lottery, or because they were unable to afford the inflated secondary-market price.

Dollshe has made a number of dolls that are very realistic in recent years. Bermann has a more stylized face, but he appeals to the MANY people who enjoy the classic Dollshe style.

At this point, an original Bermann is only available to a very wealthy collector who can afford to pay “scalper” secondary-market prices.

I don’t think that making an adapted Bermann, who could not be mistaken for the original (the new headplate and neck-attachment system would keep them from being sold falsely as an original Bermann), is breaking a promise to collectors.

Bermann is one of the most loved and coveted dolls ever made by Dollshe. I love the idea of making him available to a new generation of collectors, and to longtime collectors who weren’t able to obtain the original release.

    • Dear ASHBET,
It would be wrong if I just re-release the orginal limited edition doll without any modification and upgrade.

  • I would be very interested in them if they were remade, both of them actually, even if I still haven’t received my Hound and Saint ordered in august. They are just perfection and very inspiring, unique. Thanks for the good job.

    • Dear ELENA,
I will keep the original image of Bermann and Saint as much as I can and there would be improvement in most parts and there would be big differences in the way of molding and the joint between the Old version and New version.

I will make them unique and beautiful.

I’m trying to send your Hound and Saint as soon as possible.

I will make Fashion line Bermann too.

  • I have mixed feelings about this. I was a huge fan of your long, thin bodies even if the jointing system was not ideal (like the 28m32/35s joints). Your Rythmos body is by far my favorite, which is why I did not pass up the opportunity to order one this time! When you released your new dolls, I was a little disappointed even though they are gorgeous and beautifully rendered. I understand that artist styles change over time and this is your artwork so you should do what you want with it.

I would want to see your remake before deciding whether to purchase the doll or not. However, I agree with a previous commenter that you should move forward, not backward. I want to see new things from you. Maybe you can work on this project a little at a time on the side?

  • I haven’t bought a Dollshe doll in years, and unfortunately lost interest after the long wait time from the original re-launch event. The newer dolls such as Grant Phillippe & Ausley Love have not grabbed my interest, due to them looking so different to the original Dollshe sculpts I know and love so much, like Saint, Bermann and Hound.
I have lost all hope in finding a Bermann due to the secondary market costs, and I missed out on the very last Bermann order due to not being so familiar with how the order worked at the time.
It’d be perfect if he were simply remade to exactly how he was before – Maybe change the knee joints to the Pure body, new head plate and neck attach system and that is it – The Bermann sculpt and Bermann body were great as they were, please do not make the new body all muscly and tall like Khan or Grant.

I will be anxiously praying and waiting for the new release…!

  • I would LOVE a fashion size Bermann and I know the Bermann sculpt is a Grail doll for many people in the hobby(he’s my grail as well). I’ve been eyeing the fashion size for a while now, so it’d killing two birds with one stone by getting a Bermann in a size I’m been wanting recently. But at the same time I’m currently still paying for this years school tuition costs so maybe offering a short layaway option would be okay? Even if a layaway isn’t offered I’m still going to start saving for a new Dollshe boy next time payday comes around.

    • Dear MACKENZIE A.S,
I will keep the original image of Bermann as much as I can and there would be improvement in most parts.
I will make Fashion line Bermann too.

  • I would LOVE a Saint, I have been a BJD fan for a long time but unfortunately wasn’t able to purchase a Saint before they were discontinued as I found it too late to amass the funds to purchase him. I would definitely buy him if he was remade assuming he didn’t loose the facial structure that makes him such a handsome doll. I hope you get enough support to remake him and I eagerly await the final decision.

This will be the most wonderful gift on my birthday. It’s great when dreams come true! And I am very glad that you will improve your body. I’m sure it will be as beautiful as Your new body, and is movable, as 18 classic line. I hope to be able to purchase a new Saint. This is my favorite mold. It fascinates and accommodates thousands ! I look forward to the opening of sales. Good luck and inspiration to you and Dollshe craft!

  • Sorry, but I lost the last respect to Dollshecraft company and it’s sale politics. I would never buy somethig from Dollshecraft again. Bermann was a limited doll always and it must stay limited. It would be right. You’ve always promised that this sculpt will be limited and unrepeatable. It was your principle and now you broke you own principle. I can’t take or understand it. I think Dollshecraft have to make new interesting dolls and send orders within a reasonable time, but not tries to make endless re-releases of old molds. Bermann is unique, legendary doll for many collectors in the world. But it coundn’t stay remain so if it becomes publicly available. Your decision about re-release – a great disrespect for the old customers and admirers of the company and mold Bermann particularly. Sorry, but this is my opinion.

    • Dear LEGEND,

I won’t recreate the same body like the Original one.
The body was made 15 years ago and it’s not enough to use it again.

      • Dear Mr. Kim Kiyong!

Thanks for the reply, but I didn’t change my opinion.

It doesn’t matter what body you will put to new Bermann actually. The Bermann’s head – that is importaint! Even if you make some changes in the face’s sculprute… that doesn’t really change anything. The new one, the old one – no matter because after appearing of tons of new copies almost nobody wouldn’t see the differences, except some old owners probably. Bermann stops to be a limited “legendary” doll forever. And your other dolls never be a limited too, because no one will beleave you again.

The Dollshe company was always special for me. I was a great fan of Dollshe a long time, I still have a few of old Dollshe dolls and really love them. I had a lot of respect and admiration for your talent. I understand why are you want to re-release Bermann: money, family, business, yes, it’s very important. Of course, I don’t know the whole situation but think that it’s not an option, it’s just a temporary solution of the problems.

I won’t place any orders with Dollshecraft again but I don’t think that will be a problem for you. The company will have enough new buyers as I can see.

        Thanks for all and goodluck.
        Legend.

  • I would love a Fashion size Saint. I love Saint. He’s my favourite doll that I own and I would love to have him in the Fashion doll size. That would be wonderful. Money is tight for me right now however if Fashion size Saint becomes available, I will do everything in my power to try to buy him!

    • Dear JENNIFER,

The point is that I won’t use the old body and the Old and New would be compatible with each other. So the value of the Original Bermann will be kept.

DollShe Craft is not the place I have done all processing of making prototype, casting, shipping by myself since 2003. There are my coworkers who I worked for a long time together. Whenever I have to make decision, I try to decide what to do deeply. Not only about making a doll, but also when I have to make a division for business.

I don’t want to disappoint my old fan. However, to my lovely wife, two daughters, parents, all my DollShe Craft family, and myself there is something no choice but to do that continuously.

I’m making new dolls that I think it’s more beautiful than Bermann.
Beauty comes from relative evaluation. I know why you say it like that.
I’m sure there would be a doll that satisfies you among I make these days.

I try to make various kind of dolls and something I can be tempt.

      I respect your criticism.
      Thank you for your opinion.

  • I’d like to see a lean version the same height as Khan Fashion. Not as small as the David Fashion, etc. The Arsene body isn’t quite right for the snobby, mysterious, B’man face.

I’d buy that size if he could do the “Dollshe slouch.”
    With SA + OE faces.
    !

    • Dear PETITEB,

I won’t recreate the same body like the Original one.
The body was made 15 years ago and it’s not enough to use it again.

I will keep the original image of Saint and Bermann as much as I can but there would be big differences in the way of molding and the joint between the Old version and New version.

I will make OE and SA Head too.

I already have set the size of Fashion line of Bermann and Saint. I hope them goes we with dolls that released recently, so I want to make them 44cm.
The fashion size from the other shops are between somewhere.
I want to keep this size that I am making. I’m not interested in bigger or smaller one.

Arsene body doesn’t go well with Bermann. I’m making a new body.

      Thank you for your opinion.

  • I can only speak as a Saint owner. Having my saint gives me great pleasure and has for years. I love looking at his detailed sculpt and admiring the artistry involved in creating him. He is a true work of art for me. I make him clothing and give him different looks so he is constantly changing. I think it is wonderful that you are considering making more and in different sizes. I have had so much joy from my saint and my hound that I would be happy to know that people new to the hobby have a chance to get similar enjoyment. Yes, it may affect the resale value but what does that matter to someone who treasures and plays with their doll constantly. I don’t view it as breaking a promise but as an example of dollshecraft’s generosity of spirit towards their collectors. I want to show the same generosity of spirit towards my fellow collectors. I’m not sure whether I would buy an SD Sized bermann as I love my hound too much to give him competition but a fashion sized bermann would interest me. I think the new versions would generate a lot of interest from collectors.

    • Dear HOBBYSUE,
Thank you for your meaningful opinion. You do understand realistic part.

I’ll make Fashion line Bermann too.
I have many ideas how I will make in my mind.
Currently I finished busiest schedule so I’m excited to make it as my imagine.

  • Bermann has been on my wish list for a decade! I will definitely make an order and even place an order for two Bermanns as the sculpt has always been one of my favorites! So glad that you’re considering making them available again. I hope this comes true!

    • Dear DESIGNERMIX,
I won’t recreate the same body like the Original one.

  • I have loved Bermann since I discovered BJDs in 2006, though never had a chance to obtain one. He has always been a dream doll of mine. The same for the original Saint. Both are gorgeous sculpts. I would definitely be interested in ordering if they were to be remade, especially Bermann. The Classic Dollshe sculpts are some of the most beautiful out there and were the first BJDs I fell in love with.
While I would prefer 70cm, I would also consider buying the Fashion Line size, even though I do not collect that size. Especially in the case of Bermann, if he is made only available in that size.

Thank you for considering offering these two sculpts again and for asking your customers their opinions. πŸ™‚

    • Dear LDARKMOON,
I really wanted to listen to your opinion.
It’s not the exactly same as before but I was wondering whether the Maniac of dolls would like to have my old dolls or not.
Your opinion motivates me to make better and more beautiful Bermann.
      I will do my best.

      • Thank you for taking the time to reply. I absolutely love the old dolls. If I could have at least one of each, I probably would! There is just something magical about them that I have not seen in any other doll out there. They are, in my opinion, timeless. Dollshe sculpts, old and new, will always be a favorite of mine, no matter how time changes.

Thank you so much for creating such beautiful dolls and sharing them with the world. I am looking forward to the recreated Bermann and Saint, and any other projects you may release. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

  • I agree with Hobbysue in that I think it’s very generous of Mr. Dollshe to offer this opportunity to buy upgraded versions of Bermann and Saint. Even if he said before that these dolls will be limited, the point here is, he is making UPGRADED versions of them and NOT THE SAME ones. So technically, he’s not breaking any promise here, and it will give so much happiness and enjoyment for all those out there who love these dolls and just couldn’t get them in time. It really depends on how he remakes them; there needs to be a perfect balance between giving too subtle changes versus giving too drastic changes. But I believe in Dollshe team’s ability to bring out the best qualities of Bermann and Saint while bringing in new and improved features.

    • Dear MJKKJM,

You already know my point. If I recreate Bermann with same body like the original one, I wouldn’t keep processing this project. Because the result is very obvious.

I won’t recreate the same body like the Original one.

  • I will place an order if DollShe remakes them!

I’m really interested in their 18M Classic version more than a 18M Fashion. They would look great in the new 18M Classic body so I hope everything goes well πŸ™‚

Thank you so much for giving us this great opportunity!

  • I have already ordered an original Saint, so I don’t think I would buy another. But I wouldn’t have a problem with you remaking them. I just hope it doesn’t hinder your new doll lines. Sometimes, for the sake of future creative endeavors, the old needs to be left behind. But of course whether or not this would happen for you is for you to determine.

    • Dear DEAN,

Even though it’s been a long time I can refresh them and make a new one.
Also, many people hope recreating Bermann.
I have tried to make new things all the time for 15 years.
These days I’m craving for making previous style of dollish dolls.
You know, taste is always changeable.

      • Thank you for your reply. I understand more about how you feel about this project now and that helps. Ultimately, these dolls are your creations and they are therefore yours to do with as you please. Naturally you want to please your customers, but I think that you need to do what is right for you. I am eager to see what you come up with, and I wish you all the best with your current and future creations.

  • Mr. Dollshe,

Here’s my option about Bermann and Saint:
“1. I will place an order if DollShe remakes them.”! I already have some 18M classic dollshe dolls and I’m waiting for more. They are amazing and your work have unique features that can’t be seen in other dolls.

My opinion would remain the same even if I wasn’t interested in them, Some stores (like SOOM and Crobidoll) already do it, re-releasing limited dolls in periods of time and I don’t see the re-release as something wrong, since there’s a lot of people that love your dolls and couldn’t buy them during the sale period (and I don’t think that pay 300% of the real value of the doll in the second hand market is acceptable).

I hope you decide to make them again in the future so more people who really enjoy your work will have the oportunity! ^^

    • Dear LOVELIK,
Thank you for saying that you would like to order.
I won’t recreate the same body like the Original one.

  • Hi there Dollshe!

    So, here goes my opinion:

Bermann has been my dream doll since I’ve joined the hobby, but the bad part is that I just got the opportunity to join the hobby long after Bermann was sold out. For this reason, I had no chance to get Bermann in other place that was not the second hand market, but this doll is extremelly over priced there, so there’s no chance at all I’ll ever have this doll if you don’t remake him. I would CERTAINLY buy a Bermann doll (OE or SA and if both were released, I would buy one of both). I’m 100% against recasts and I would never buy a doll that was not made directly from the store or on the second hand market place with proofs of it’s originality. That makes my only two chances of ever having a Bermann doll being: if I happen to have over 2000USD on my bank account or if you remake him.
My answer is (1.) I will place an order if DollShe remakes them.
And I wouldn’t even think twice.

As for people who are complaining about the remaking of the dolls. I don’t believe Bermann would stop being a limited edition if you just made a limited quantity of the doll. I also don’t believe you would be breaking the promise of not selling him again cause you would make a new plate, some adaptations as you already said.
I don’t believe Bermann or Saint are an old aesthetic of the store, I think Dollshe’s classic dolls were (and still are) the most awesome dolls and Dollshe is currently my favorite doll shop.
As for Saint, I already own 4 new Saints but no Old Saint sculpt, therefore I would also be interested in boyuing old Saint, but Bermann is certainly my dream and I REALLY hope you remake him. I’ve been thinking about this sculpt for many years and I already considered selling a big part of my doll family just to be able to buy him on the second hand market’s over price.
Reading this news about Bermann really made my day brighter! Just the feeling that you might be considering a remake on this doll made me very happy! I do hope from the bottom of my heart that you release him again, even with adaptations! I do think the old hound body is amazing and I would love to have one, but most of the doll bodies you make are very good, so I would buy Bermann on any body you would be willing to sell him, if he was made SD. For Fashion size, I’m not a collector of this doll type, so unfortunatelly I think I would not buy a fashion sized Bermann, which is sad cause I really hope I can have this sculpt one day!

Other doll stores already do remade versions of their limited dolls and they are not less limited for that. They’re different releases, different plates, dates, bodies and the overall look is different. I’m pretty sure new Bermann will end up better than old Bermann cause so much time has passed and also the crew skills in sculpting, refining and printing have grown different. For this reason, I don’t believe it’s offensive to people who got the first release cause they won’t be the same doll, even if Dollshe wanted it to be the same. 3D print technology is something very new, also the crew skills are improved, the shop has grown bigger, with new resin color options, new resin quality and everyone is overall more experienced, so it’s inevitable that the new version of Bermann and Saint will be different from the first, therefore, I don’t believe it’s a promise break. I would love Bermann to keep his original features and details, but as long as it’s first prototype is broken, it’s clear to me that it won’t be the very same doll. So remaking Bermann or Saint is totally ok, on my point of view.

In the end, my opinion is that a new release of Bermann would be more than welcome and I wouldn’t hesitate placing an order for him!
Thanks for even considering this opportunity! I’m anxiously waiting for your decision and hopping you will wish to make the release!! Congratulations for the amazing work and I sincerely expect you keep growing as a doll store and producing the amazing BJDs that I love to have *___*

    • Dear AKITSUNE,

It would be wrong if I just re-release the orginal limited edition doll without any modification and upgrade.

The reason why I want to listen to you was that I wanted to let you know my opinion and communicate with you and listen to various thoughts.

I won’t recreate the same body like the Original one.

      Have a wonderful day.

      DollShe craft

  • Mr. Dollshe,

I am sure you asked this question because you knew it would be a very controversial topic! While many would love to get their hands on Bermann and Saint in Classic form I do not know if it is a good idea to break your promise about Bermann. It is a hard decision because either way someone is going to be disappointed. Perhaps the best way is to make them in fashion only. That way they can have the doll but it will not be the same. I may buy a Saint in fashion form, especially if he was able to do the lovely slouch. I am more interested in girl dolls from you though.

I hope you don’t get too much backlash, whichever route you take!

    • Dear KIA,

  • It will be a dream come true, if Bermann will be released again!
I’m sure to get yourself one. Hopefully his face will not be changed much.
    1. I will place an order if DollShe remakes them.

    • Dear ANNA,

I will recover him with 3D scanning so I will keep his image so that people can recognize him but will be updated.

  • 3. I would be interested in the body if it satisfied the following conditions:
    a. the old 18M heads can fit
    b. the body is remodeled to be more realistic
    c. the body has broader shoulders than the original

If you ‘remodel’ the Saint and Bermann heads, I’ll be willing to have a look, though their original sculpts have never appealed to me.
Another problem that would stop me buying from you is that your new dolls pre-orders take too long.

    • Dear BLACKLILAC,

I will show you the Head in a month and will show you the Bodyin December.

  • I think. it will be great to see Bermann and Saint in Fashion line(44cm) dolls. In this case I will place an order – and I will buy 3 dolls or more )))
But not Classic line(70cm). Becouse it is: “I don’t understand why DollShe remake the limited edition doll again”
    Thank you for asking us!

  • Hello Mr. Dollshe,
Remaking these would be amazing, both at 1/3 size and fashion size !
I would definitely love to buy a Saint in each size if I have enough money. I probably won’t be able to afford it (even with layaway) but it’s still a really great idea.
So I’d say that I will buy them if they are released again.

    • Dear KULUKALA,

Thank you for saying that you would place an order if we make them.
Saint would get modified in many ways.

  • I think this is fantastic and I’m looking forward to seeing them “reborn”. I’m interested in both of them, preferably in Classic line size since that is what I collect. So I choose:
    1. I will place an order if DollShe remakes them.
It would be nice if Layaway was available.
Thank you for this unique opportunity! ^_^

  • Dear Mr. Dollshe,

I will, for sure, place an order if DollShe remakes them.
Bermann is one of my grail bjds, and I trust in your work, your quality of producing.
But In my opinion isn’t it weird to remake the limited doll? Isn’t this destroy the value/magic of the word ‘limited’ you was made?
For me as a new customer I’m very happy with the opportunity to own a bjd I dream of, but… I can’t imagine how about your old customers might feel. If it’s me I must be a bit disappointed even if it’s not the same Bermann/Saint as the one they owned.
BTW, I’m sorry to heat that the original prototype has been broken. I understand the reason why you want to remake it. I will respect you decision and support on you work. They are really great work in any way.

    • Dear 19ROCKS,
Thank you so much that you think my quality of producing is high.

  • Yes, yes, yes, I’ll buy Bermann because I’m in love with this face for 8 years but never was able to buy it second hand. Make people dreams real, dear Master and don’t listen those who say “no”!

    • Dear ARIEL ,
Thank you for saying that you would place an order if we make them.
I expected there would be a lot of opinion. Of course there are someone say β€˜no’
I understand this project wouldn’t be welcomed by everyone.
But there are some reasons I start this project.
I will keep the original image of Bermann as much as I can so the value of the Original Bermann will be kept. But the body was made 15 years ago and it’s not enough to use it again. There would be many changes in the body.
It is meaningful doll to me but I don’t want to recreate it same as before.
      Thank you for your opinion.

      Sincerely yours,

  • Mr. Dollshe,
    Here’s my option about Bermann:
I will place an order if DollShe remakes Bermann. I like both 18M Classic version more than a 18M Fashion.

    Thanks!

    • Dear DMITRIY PUZAK,
Thank you for saying that you would place an order if we make them.
Many people want me to make them so I’ll do my best.
I will make Fashion line and Classic line.
      Thank you for your opinion.

      Sincerely yours,

  • Dear Mr. Dollshe,

unfortunately I have to agree with Legend and others who think that remaking Bermann in 70 cm size would be disrespectful to the old customers and admirers of the company. You always told people how special Bermann is and that you will never release him again.
From my point of view the person whom Sarah quoted above said it just right β€œFirstly, it is the one promise that Dollshe have made that has not been broken. There has been a staunch promise that there will be no more Bermanns and there haven’t been.”
I know you said you want to adapt him a bit… but that doesn’t really change anything let’s be honest.
It would be really sad to see the only promise you kept so far been broken.

I see how many people want to order Bermann (judging by the comments) . But there were many who wanted to get him before and who missed the lottery or wasn’t lucky to win it and you still told them NO. Because Bermann was a special limited doll and this is how limited dolls work. Many people want them but it is extremely hard to get them.
Please think about those who won the lottery/ managed to find and get Bermann later/were saving for a couple of years to afford him. Of course there is just a few of them (because there is just a few of Bermanns) but they trusted your promise and played by your rules. Are they less important to you than all those who are willing to pay for this new Bermann right now?

I don’t know any other doll in bjd hobby that is as special as Bermann is. You managed to create this legend and of course it is up to you whether to remake Bermann or not. I would be just extremity sad to see how legend dies.

Though I also agree with those who think that fashion size Bermann is a great idea that won’t do any harm.*___*

Sorry if I offended anyone guys! T_T That was not my intention!
I just wanted to share my opinion.

    • Dear ECLIPSE21,

You are the best for me. I saw your artwork with Bermann in β€˜DollShe Vision’ book.

  • It is with chagrin that I read your e-mail about re-issuing Bermann and Saint.

Bermann is a legendary doll which was never to be re-created. Re-issuing him after a 3D scan in several sizes would be to reduce him to a common doll produced in quantity and readily available. This process removes the artist from his creation.

Bermann is close to perfection for a BJD, the most perfect face, beautiful from every angle, the sometimes unattainable dream of collectors. I am not talking about his monetary value, but his undeniable artistic value which would be cheapened by such a move. I was lucky enough after much searching to acquire an SA Shinsengumi Kurogatu , I do not care about his monetary value because I will never sell him, I look at him and know he was lovingly created by a true artist.

Please let him stay rare, mysterious and legendary, do not let him become just another common doll.

    • Dear DOMINIQUEB,
I’m always in dilemma between making a doll and business.

Currently it’s hard to being aloof whenever I work. My artwork would be forever even after I die and can be admitted the value or it could be sold at auction.
However, my Bermann is just a doll that has made only few. That’s all. Even though you think it’sa mysterious and legendary doll. I’m sorry.

But, it doesn’t mean I make it easily and make it as a low quality of doll.
I’m sure someone who see my dolls wouln’t think like that.

It would be wrong if I just re-release the orginal limited edition doll without any modification and upgrade.

The reason why I want to listen to you was that I wanted to let you know my opinion and communicate with you and listen to various thoughts.

  • YES! Please DO this.
I would especially like the fashion size of Saint or even Bernard. I have wanted one since you first started making fashion sizes.
As for the body, I like the aesthetic of the original Hound/Bermann body, but my favorite was the Pure body. Either is fine.
Please, please do this! I would definitely buy one!

      • I really want to order one, but I am worried about the body. I understand that Arsene was a
‘slim’ design too and I really disliked that body. Please make it closer to the old 18M bodies. I should be putting my order in soon regardless, I just want to be sure the one I get is one I will like, since this is very nearly a blind purchase.

  • Dear Mr Dollshe,

I think this is a wonderful gift for you to offer! If your beautiful Bermann kept majority of his
appearance, larger head like your older sculpts, key facial features and overall beauty he exuded, then yes, I would definitely buy him.

Thank you for considering the possibility.

    • Dear SERENITY7,
I will keep the original image of Bermann as much as I can but there would be big differences in the way of molding and the joint between the Old version and New version.

However, I will recover him with 3D scanning so I will keep his image so that people can recognize him but will be updated.
I will make a better structure inside the head and will have better mobility.
      Thank you for your opinion.

  • Mr. Dollshe,
Bermann is my very old dream! I wanted to buy it at any price, but it did not. If there is a re-release, I will be very grateful to you!

  • Hello. I’d be really interested in purchasing the fashion size Saint if you make it, and most likely I’ll end up buying because I love the aesthetics of your dolls the most(especially proportions and realistic looks). Even if you’re going to modify the original model, I believe you’ll create something beautiful just like you always do. Honestly I cannot say FOR SURE to buy it as of now, because I see a few other doll companies started making 1/4 size mature male dolls with realistic proportion so I also want to see how they’ll do, but again I’d love to see your original 18M dolls in Fashion size. Thank you for asking our opinions.

  • I would not order the remade dolls. Especially the Bermann… It would break hearts of many doll lovers and destroy the special aura around this doll. I can think of three things that would ruin the legend of Bermann:
    1. it was promised to not be made any more, it was the only promise kept so far and I would think you, as the creator of this doll, would at least keep this one promise, since it happened a few times already that some dolls were supposed to be discontinued and then they were to buy again. I wish you could be firm about this one thing.
    2. there would be so many orders, everybody and their moms would buy this doll, all the new owners would show him everywhere and his face would become common. The greatest beauty seen so many times becomes ordinary.
    2. in a blink of an eye, recasters would put their hands on him and we would have another wave of beautiful doll remade in ugly shiny resin – like it was with Venitu (I realize it’s not your work, but it is Dollshe’s beautiful resin). That, personally, would break my heart the most…

I’ve always loved the Saint and have always dreamed of owning one, so I am very happy that you are considering to remake them ^_^ I am very curious to see how the new designs will look and I will definitely be interested in buying if you do release them!

  • I know I have already had my say, but listening to some of the comments posted here, I am really beginning to understand how some people would be upset by this move. I am new to this hobby, and I did not realise how important Bermann was. I only just found out looking on Wikipedia that he is one of the most sought after BJD dolls there is. I too think that remaking him in any way would be damaging his reputation as something truly special. It would also be unfair to those who have gone to such lengths to obtain one of the original dolls. Therefore I feel like I should amend my original comment to this: I have already ordered a Saint, so I would not buy another. I wouldn’t have a problem with you remaking Saint. But I would not remake Bermann as I feel it would be dishonest and unfair, not only to those who have bought him but to the doll himself. I hope remaking any dolls would not hinder your new doll lines. Variety is the spice of life.

    • Dear DEAN,

  • I think that remaking these dolls again would feel like a betrayal, especially to people who bought them knowing that they would no longer be available and may have pushed the sale when they couldn’t really afford it..

That said, I think that the fashion line would probably be okay, since it’s a new size and would be significantly different from the previous offerings for these dolls. But I think the 70cm version would be too close.

I probably wouldn’t buy either of them, to be honest.. I’m saving up for an Amanda Beauty πŸ™‚

  • Dear Dollshe team,
Since I am new collector of your adorable dolls I woud only dream to have a chance to adopt Bermann, so I would definetly choose option 1 – to buy Saint and Bermann on new 18M body. I have already 2 Saints on DSAM32 body, so fashion size of dolls is out of my interests. Thank you for asking our opinion, it is priceless!

  • Dear DollShe,
    1. I will place an order if DollShe remakes them.
Just wish there would be a bit more than these two gorgeous men. Would totally give my money. Please keep on creating wonderful dolls in the future too! Much love!

  • I’d be interested in Bermann! Even if he were remade as just the head on its own would be great; depending on the style and posing abilities of the body I’d be interested in him as a whole doll too.

  • 1. I will place an order if Dollshe remakes Bermann!
I love Bermann very much, he is one of my favourite sculpts and it would be amazing to have a chance to own a brand new Bermann doll. My bermann is very old and yellowed from his previous owner so I’d love to get him a younger brother on a new body!

  • Dear Mr. Dollshe,

I will place an order if you remake Saint. I agree with others who say that Bermann should remain special and would not buy him in the 70cm size. However, think that making Bermann in the Fashion size would be perfectly fine since he was never made in that size. I would probably place an order for a Fashion size Bermann since I love his sculpt so much.

  • 3.) I have mixed feelings.

To many Dollshe fans a Bermann has always been a grail, that one doll you wish to own but can never reach.
I am sure many people will be happy to buy one, but others will be disappointed or won’t accept them as “real” Bermanns.
We also don’t know yet how “new Bermann” will actually look like.

However, for years we have begged Dollshe to re-release him, and we always got a “no”.
    Why the sudden change?
Especially because it always seemed like Dollshe doesn’t want to go back to his old works again and again.
He has changed as an artist and has more experience now.

Anyway, Dollshe has a lot on their plate.
I remember Mr. Dollshe’s post about how he works 15 hours a day and wishes to have more time for his family.
I not only wish the same to him, but I also think he needs to get down to a workload that pleases his customers.
It’s nice that Dollshe releases so much at once, but for what cost?
People have to wait over a year for their doll.
They have to watch how more and more dolls are released while they still wait.
Now they have to watch how Mr. Dollshe breaks his biggest promise, next to all the other things he told us he would do and never did (like, how many “last sales” did we have for the 18M classic guys?).
It just seems like Dollshe has a problem he doesn’t want to tell us πŸ™

In short: don’t re-release Bermann, focus on new things.
    Finish all existing orders.
Don’t let people wait for months.
Don’t teaser and release more and more new dolls at once while old ones still haven’t shipped.
As soon as Dollshe is back to a normal wait time he can think about all new interesting projects.

  • 1) I’d be very interested in a re-release of Bermann. He’s such a pretty doll and I’ve loved him for years. I would definitely buy one in tan if he is re-released in 70cm.
I’m not myself into the fashion size, but I know many people are, so I think it’s a good idea to make some of the 18M as fashion size, but I will not buy fashion size dolls.

  • I would love it if Dollshe remade the Saint and made Bermann available on the 70 cm body–I love the Pure Body and own a Saint on this body…I never thought it would be possible to own a Bermann, so the thought of this is really exciting! I think it would be great if Dollshe just made the entire 70 cm line available again all the time and did not discontinue them, then bring them back, then discontinue again. They’re such a popular line and many people are interested in buying them, so it seems like it would only make Dollshe consistent money to offer this line all the time–and I definitely want Dollshe to have the funds to operate comfortably and keep making more beautiful BJDs! Overall I think more consistency with either offering a line or permanently discontinuing the line is something Dollshe should consider. And obviously I think they should offer them permanently because they’re a wonderful line that is very popular, and also I think Aramis was not offered for long enough before being discontinued. Thank you very much!

  • I most definitely would buy Bermann if he were brought back in 70cm size. He has been a dream doll of mine since I started collecting dolls and not for his worth as a highly limited piece.

  • New Bermann? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaseeeeee please please please I have loved that doll since I joined the hobby in 2008. He is my grail I will never have doll. And he’d feel right at home here with the two Bernards and the Saint, I already have! πŸ˜€

  • susulovelove@gmail.com

I have been a lover of Dollshe dolls since SDink started to paint Dollshe dolls over 13 years ago. If it was not for the repaint of Dollshe dolls, I would not have learned or loved Dollshe dolls.

However if Bermann is remake in any form, I would lose my good opinion of this company.

2 and 3) I won’t place any order even if DollShe remakes them. I don’t understand why DollShe remake the limited edition doll EVER!!!

As much as I love to own a Bermann, this is NOT right and it is showing the utmost disrespect to the loyal customers who have stayed with you since 2006 and waited an year for dolls at time.

This is not a good way to make money

Please use your talent to create a newly designed handsome doll but please do NOT remake a promised Limited Edition doll just to satisfy a few people and short term money in the bank

    Thank you

  • It was always promised that Bermann was a limited doll and would never be released again and I think that’s the way it should stay . It would be very wrong to break that promise now or at any time in the future , Also , a Bermann is still a Bermann , whatever the size so I don’t think he should be made in the fashion size either.

Saint , on the other hand , it would be great to see in the fashion size and I would be very likely to buy one !

  • After reading these comments and chatting with many people, I realize how much drama Bermann has caused in the past, Now, again.

Perhaps, Mr. Kim, if you must remake an older, cherished doll that many consider your masterpiece, you would consider
    starting with the clay?

Create from your heart a new Bermann. Meditate on him and bring him to life with your incredible talent for realism. Because it isn’t just that lovely profile we adored. It was a spark of life, a soul that Bermann has.

If you can create him as a new entitiy for a new decade and not a re-release too similar to the past, there might be more acceptance of having Bermann available again. A life-like young man with a lanky, slender body.

Given a different name as homage to Bermann but not Bermann.

In thinking it over, I would not buy a re-make of Bermann, in any size.

  • Greetings, Mr. Dollshe!

Ah, the memories of entering the lotteries to win the chance to buy a Bermann! I never won but I got to enjoy my friend SDink’s Bermanns when she posted photos on her Live Journal. I finally got to meet her and some of her Dollshes at BJDC one year.

Yes, I would pre-order a tan Bermann, preferably in Classic line size (if I could get some kind of layaway plan – the only way I can afford to buy dolls now) and go in with Ashbet so we could order together to at least save on shipping. If I could not afford a large Bermann, I would try for the Fashion Size, which is actually my preferred weight size now due to health issues making it difficult to carry a lot of weight without damaging my body. I have dolls in many sizes and aesthetics so he would find a place in my Crew.

If the Fashion Bermann looked like a character I have been attempting to shell, then I would get him in a normal pale resin and then buy one of the muscular dolls in his size in tan for another character in the same universe (Sanji and Zoro from One Piece).

I do not know why people are complaining about you remaking the Bermann because, as you stated above, he WILL be different from the original dolls. The body’s joints will be refined and I know the 3D scan will not completely capture the Bermann’s face. Their original Bermann dolls will remain those select dolls made so long ago. This Bermann will be different.

I completely agree with Ashbet’s comments about the Classic size being an adapted Bermann and thereby not taking away from the original dolls out there. I also agree with her about keeping Bermann’s head large so he would be able to stand next to my Hound, who came to me in mid-2006 after many prior owners and is one of my most prized dolls. A lot of my friends want me to give him to them when I die – seriously. I lean toward the large Bermann for that reason, so my Hound would have a Dollshe friend.

I know why it takes a year to get a doll – you are a one-family company, Mr. Dollshe. My friend visited with you and gave you a photo book with our beloved Dollshe dolls in it (three photos were mine) and you told her about your company, which is why I know about your limited staffing. I am awed by this fact and admire you for following your dream to make beautiful dolls.

Whatever your decision, I will respect it.

Thank you for asking us for our opinion!

    Deepest regards,

    bakayaro onna

  • At first, I choose 1. I will surely place an order.
I think that it’s a really great idea to give a fresh breath to these gorgeous sculpts. In my opinion Bermann and Saint are the faces that made an image of Dollshecraft from the very beginning. These faces are loved by lots of bjd owners all over the world, and I’m sure you will make them even more attractive! Wish you good luck in your work.
Thank you for giving a new life to Bermann and Saint, we were missing them!

  • I will place an order if you remakes Bermann (on size 70 cm and slim body). It is my dream not because he is a limit or rare, but because he has a a beautiful face.

  • Hello Dollshe team
Be a fashion or an SD size, I would gather money to order a Bermann for sure. Specially with the old body, which I still find oddly charming.
I would love to see the Old Saint remade though! He is one of my favorite dolls and I’m very lucky ot own one of the old faceplates.

  • this would be really awesome! when you came out with the other fashion sized dolls i was really hoping you would do the original dollshe boys eventually as well!

  • I disagree with others here that re-making Bermann would diminish his legend. Bermann will always be a legend as one of the first ever 70cm dolls, making a new version of him does not change that and the originals would still go for the ridiculous secondmarket price they do now. I don’t think it is right to deny those of us who were unable to get a Bermann originally this wonderful opportunity to own a newer version of this beautiful doll. Yes, Mr. Dollshe thought he would never make Bermann again but if anyone actually read the post, this will be a different version not the exact same Bermann that was released originally. Companies re-release sculpts all the time when they said they wouldn’t previously with different designs and alterations, there is nothing wrong with doing so.

Please DO make a new 18M Bermann. Bermann has been my dream doll for a long time and I would most definitely buy one! Thank you!

  • Bermann is a beautiful doll, and one that many people would love the chance to own. He would never replace the original, but would bring joy to a lot of people. Yes! Remake Bermann. <3

  • I would love to see Bermann made again! He is such a beauty, and his re release would bring joy to so many people who love him but could never have one. I feel that with all the changes Dollshe has made in engineering bodies, new Bermann would be different enough from old Bermann that those who want the distinction of owning something rare will have a doll clearly different than those who own a new Bermann.

  • Definitely β€œYES”! πŸ™‚ I would really want to have 18m Bermann OE and SA. So I will be looking forward to hearing about the release. πŸ™‚

  • Oh, I would love a fashion sized Bermann! And Saint, that size is just perfect and it is very hard to find adult looking dolls in that scale… Not to mention, Bermann has been one of my favorite molds since the very beginning of my hobby.

  • I would happily buy both. I have been in love with Bermann and Saint since I saw photos of them in 2009. An SA Saint managed to come to me when the New Old Body was released a couple years ago and I love him, but wished I’d purchased the OE head at that time. As for the Bermann, I thought I’d never be able to own one because so few come up for sale in the secondary market. When one is for sale, the cost is very difficult to justify.

  • I own a Louis Do Bermann that i won in your last lottery and a 10 year old hound. My financial situation now does not allow me to buy dolls anymore, not the more expensive ones at least, so I might not be able to order any of your new dolls but still I would love to see the result and I have absolutely no problem of the Bermann being back on the market as I trust your art and vision and I’m sure it would be a totally new and different Bermann that would make as drool all over!!

  • My Dear Mr. Dollshe,
First I would like to thank you for asking our opinions on this. I would love to have the honor of owning a Bermann and an original Saint. I wasn’t collecting BJD’s when they were released and Bermann is very elusive. I love the aesthetic of the original 18M Classic line. They are my favorite in the entire BJD world. Secondly, anyone who says that they won’t be popular is, in my opinion, completely wrong. I prefer the older aesthetic. Very realistic dolls don’t appeal to me for the most part. It’s all a matter of personal taste. So yes I will purchase at least one of each. Thank you for making such beautiful dolls and please continue to do so.

  • If Bermann becomes available, I will definitely be ordering one. I’ve admired him for years, and would love to add him to my collection where he will be treaured for the special doll he is!

  • I wouldn’t buy Bermann. I don’t like this mold. I do like Saint and I’d probably buy it in case the mold became right. I need to look at it first. Here is my opinion:
I think that we should have more different dolls. Someone likes Bermann so much but couldn’t buy it, that’s not fair. I value dolls for their appearance, their face. I don’t care how limited was those releases. A few old Bermann releases would always remain unique. New releases would be different products due to inevitable changes in the mold. I vote for the rebuild of Saint and Bermann.

  • No.3

I must say this’s a dilemma. There’s so many pro and contra about Bermann. As I myself do not really agree with the re-release, I do understand you have your own reason as a company.
    Here’s my opinion :
Is the ‘new’ Bermann must be named as Bermann ? Why not give him another name? Since you said they’ll be quite different, why not make him like Bermann’s twin or brother who have identical face with him, but still not the same. This way, people who love the face mold can get their dream doll, and the old original Bermann will still have their own value.
Anyway I just hope the best for you. πŸ™‚

  • So looks like we already have a verdict and Hermann is happening. And yay for all the new parents!

I might actually want one, I have a character in my that might fit that beautiful face! But unfortunately its not on top of my list, perhaps somewhere down the line in 2018, my current goal is still the 16F πŸ™‚

Can’t wait to see all these new dolls in photos soon πŸ™‚
    Much Love

  • Hello Dear Dollshe,

I think I could be very interested if you’ll release a Saint in fashion size. To be precise, I think it would be very interesting having all these old sculpts fashion sized. It’s a very cool size to my opinion. Since you created them 15 years ago, as an artist, I understand that they’re not fitting your actual sculpting taste. I’ll be very delighted to see how you could slighty modify them with your actaul way of sculpting, with a more realistic way, but keeping their very classy and impressive look. And I really like the old 18M sculpts because of their thin bodies, very gracefull. A new one with this aesthetic spirit would be marvelous!
I wish you all the best sculpting times, thank you again for your beautiful dolls!

  • Master Dollshe.

No one cares about Bermann body. All Bermann value and love is in his head. Remaking Bermann again will make him less special. I am sad you will break your promise. Tensiya Bermann was very expensive. Now new bermann will be cheap. For money and family make a new doll not new Bermann. I will not buy Dollshe Products anymore if Bermann is released again. I cannot support you.You do not care about customers.

  • Hello! I wanna place an order. I’m very interested in the Saint, but I also would like to see in future remaking all OLD 18M doll (Van, Aramis and etc.) Because they are very very beautiful and unique. Every year new members comes to the bjd-world and it’s impossible deprive them of the chance to have these dolls. It’s my opinion.

  • Dear Mr. Dollshe:
Thank you for releasing the Bermann again! So many people wanted him that weren’t able to get him before. It is a joy to see them have some hope πŸ˜€
As for me, I am in LOVE with my Saint. He is my favourite boy <3 The only thing I would want is a Saint in the Fashion size, and I am reading in your previous replies that you are planning on releasing one πŸ˜€ So I'll be watching πŸ˜€ THANK YOU!
And thanks for asking our opinion. That is much appreciated.

    • Thank you for your love for our remaking Bermann.
We tried to help people understand our Remaking project but there were a lot nagative opinions too.
We will release the new Bermann head next week. I wonder how people would think of it.
Many people love Saint. I’m working on his head and show you this too as soon as possible.
